FAQ — Jescor Laser | Mobile Laser Cleaning, Edmonton

Question 1

Is laser cleaning safe for all surfaces?

Accepted Answer

Laser cleaning is safe for steel, iron, concrete, masonry, and most industrial surfaces. The process works because contaminants (rust, paint, oil, grime) absorb the laser energy and are vaporized, while the base material reflects it and is left undamaged. That said, not every surface is a good candidate — some coatings, plastics, and composite materials can be affected. If you're unsure, describe your job and we'll tell you upfront whether laser cleaning is the right approach.

Question 2

How long does a typical job take?

Accepted Answer

Most residential and small commercial jobs are completed in a single visit of two to four hours. Larger industrial jobs — structural steel, warehouse floors, fleet equipment — may take a full day or require a return visit depending on the surface area and contamination level. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when you request a quote so you can plan accordingly.

Question 3

Do I need to prepare the surface before you arrive?

Accepted Answer

Generally, no. We work on surfaces as-is. For very large jobs with loose debris or standing water, clearing the immediate work area helps us get started faster — but we don't require any surface prep from you. We bring everything we need.

Question 4

What happens to the material that gets removed?

Accepted Answer

Contaminants are vaporized by the laser beam and become fine particulate. Our equipment includes extraction and filtration to capture this material at the source. There's no wet slurry, no chemical residue, and nothing left behind on your surface or the surrounding area.

Question 5

How much does laser cleaning cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing depends on the surface type, the level of contamination, and the total area being cleaned. We don't publish flat rates because a garage floor with light staining and a heavily rusted equipment frame are very different jobs. The best way to get an accurate number is to submit a quote request — describe the job, include photos if you have them, and we'll come back with a clear price.

Question 6

Do you work in winter?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We operate year-round in Edmonton. Cold temperatures don't affect the laser cleaning process itself. For outdoor concrete work in freezing conditions, we'll discuss the job with you beforehand — ice and frost on the surface can affect results and may require some coordination. Indoor jobs on steel and equipment are unaffected by the season.

Question 7

Do you travel outside Edmonton?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We serve Edmonton and the surrounding region — Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Leduc, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Fort Saskatchewan, Nisku, and nearby communities. For jobs further afield, contact us and we'll let you know whether we can accommodate your location.

Question 8

Can you handle large industrial jobs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our equipment is built for industrial-scale work — structural steel, large concrete surfaces, fleet vehicles, and heavy equipment. We're comfortable working on active job sites and can coordinate with your site supervisor on access, safety requirements, and scheduling. If you have a large or ongoing project, get in touch and we'll discuss what a multi-visit arrangement looks like.

Question 9

Is laser cleaning safe to do around other people or equipment?

Accepted Answer

The work area is cordoned off during operation and appropriate laser safety protocols are followed. Bystanders and nearby equipment are not at risk when the work zone is properly managed. We handle all safety setup — you don't need to do anything beyond keeping people out of the immediate work area while we're operating.

Question 10

How is laser cleaning different from sandblasting or pressure washing?

Accepted Answer

Sandblasting uses abrasive media that physically scours the surface — it's effective but removes some of the base material along with the contamination, and it generates significant mess and waste. Pressure washing uses high-volume water, which can saturate surfaces, cause runoff, and often can't remove embedded staining. Laser cleaning uses no abrasives, no water, and no chemicals. It targets only the contaminant layer, leaves the substrate intact, and produces no liquid waste or residue. It's also more precise — intensity is adjustable, so it works on everything from light surface rust to heavy oxidation without over-treating the surface.
